Ho Hum

Ho hum . . . I'm tired of taking the photos.  They worked really well at the beginning but then something happened and then they didn't work as well.  So I am reassessing and sorting out what might work best.  Of course in the meantime I went up 2 pounds so I am . . . 10 Again!

I do know my weaknesses.  One of the problems is incentive.  I mean 10 pounds isn't a huge amount on this 5' 9" body.  No one will notice.  There won't be any compliments.  My clothing size won't change (but a few things will fit better).  So maybe I need to think about my incentive, then move forward from there.

Another issue is focus.  I need to stay focused throughout the day.  It's amazing how I can get half way through an ice cream cone (or nachos) and then remember I am trying to lose weight.  Seriously, I forget my focus!

So that's the deal, I need to address incentive and focus.  Gotta put the ol' thinking cap on when I'm on my run tomorrow . . .

  1. Besides dog blogs, I read a lot of other blogs. I have been drawn towards the mindfulness movement (if that is the formal name). The idea is that we need to all be attending to/mindful of everything we are doing and saying. It is so easy for us just to get into habits.

That being said, as a behaviour analyst I know how hard habits are to change. I myself could stand to lose probably close to 10 lbs (I am not sure, I don't own a scale) and I could definitely use an increase in my exercise, but it is so easy not to change. Habits, are habits for a reason.

Have you thought of some reward you will give yourself when you reach the 10 lb goal? That may help.

    1. I think mindfulness is something I need in EVERY area of my life! We practiced this when we were on vacation and had a very noticeable increase in our level of pleasure!

Yup. That's valid. There was an incentive but it was perhaps there only to get you to this point of digging deeper. This can only be a good thing, whichever way it tips! Happy and productive 'runninations' to you &*>

  3. We really enjoyed the photos as it helped me get motivated to pay more attention to what I was eating, instead of just wolfing it down in front of a computer screen (says she with a bowl of chocolate chip ice cream sitting next to me as I type). But you have to do what works for YOU, and if the photos aren't doing it, go to Plan B. In any investigation I do for work we always look at the who, what, where, why and perhaps that would work with dieting as well.

    1. I think since I typically eat the same thing over and over that the photos got too boring. You'd think the food would have gotten boring but instead it was the photos!

  4. Hi there, Just last night I told hubby I needed to loose 4 lbs-not a huge amount, but on a 5'2" frame it can be a lot. I was just where I wanted to and then the lbs keep inching on. So we are out to dinner, I had just told hubby that I wanted to lose the few lbs and what do I do but we split a dessert. So I'm like you my friend. Let me know when you figure it out and then maybe it will work with me.
    Hugs, Noreen
