Excellent? I Want More!

I FINALLY got out for a run today.  With these VERY COLD temperatures and my ITB and hamstring issues, my running has really taken a hit.  I wanted to do 10 miles today but the pain from my ITB and the cold pretty much shut me down at 8 miles.  If I tried to do any more it would have just been junk miles anyway.  It has been quite a while since I have done a 13 miler so I fear I am losing fitness.  I am still going to physical therapy. Oh well . . .

On the eating front, I am happy to report that I have stayed on plan every day so far!  I am going to weigh in on Friday since that is 1 week.  Tonight is the new premier of "The Biggest Loser".  I actually find that very inspiring since those contestants have a much harder journey than I do.

As you might note from the photo, I got a new GPS.  I have always worn one when running so that in itself isn't anything new.  But this one does a lot more than the old one.  One of the things it does is after a run it calculates a VO2 MAX which is a measure of fitness.  My number (adjusted for gender and age) was in the EXCELLENT category. Now I'll try and get into the top level, the SUPERIOR category but I'll need to get these muscles back to 100 percent first.

  1. You look great, happy to be back running. Did 4th acupuncture visit on my lunch hour. Bought a candy bar on an errand on the way home and didn't eat it. THAT is a first.

  2. So glad you were able to run. It was too cold here to walk the dogs this morning (-20 F), so I walked the treadmill instead. Thank goodness for NetFlix!

  3. Well done! Getting out for that first run after not going for a while I always find the hardest, so pat on the back for getting out there again

  5. Sadly, I know all about the lose weight, gain it back thing! I've done that a lot as an adult. You look great and I don't think you need to lose anything.

Good for you for getting out for a run. I have a bad hip, so I can't run. Sometimes it bothers me when I walk long distances too.
