Like A Train

I still don't have much to say.  That is sort of unusual for me.  But I noticed I haven't updated this blog for awhile so decided I had to say SOMETHING.  Weight-wise, I am doing okay.  I bounce between high 159's and 161ish.  Mostly I have been in the 159's but I think my new popcorn habit has me up today.  The box says 150 calories for the bag but my fingers feel oily enough that I can't figure if that is right or not. Anyway, I am feeling hopeful that returning to my 155 goal is going to happen.
We're heading out for a little vacation next week and I typically do well during those times.  It forces me to break habits and I'm usually more active. I'm looking forward to it.  I just hope the weather doesn't go bad and cause us to have to alter our travel plans.  We just need 1 day of good weather to get south far enough that snow won't be an issue.  It hasn't snowed here yet but we are on borrowed time in that department.  They predicted a few flakes yesterday and the sky looked threatening but it never happened.  Whew - dodged that one!

Taken from our deck yesterday.
I was walking through the grocery store parking lot on Monday and saw this vehicle.  If you enlarge it you can see that the owner is a hoarder.  It is full of paper things, all stacked up. When we first saw it there was no driver.  When we left the store I decided I was going to take a photo of it.  I don't know why.  Then as we got close I saw the driver had returned to the vehicle.  She was sorting through the pile of papers that covered the whole dash.  I was being sneaky as I didn't want her to realize I was somewhat shocked by the situation but at the same time I wondered how this happened?

I also thought it was odd that the vehicle was only a few years old, and yet it was jam packed full of garbage while the outside remained well kept.  I had it in my mind that someone who suffered from this mental illness kept their hoarding more private and this vehicle was not private at all.

I see another vehicle, an older one, around town that is the same way.  I wonder if these 2 vehicles are "related".  I typically see the other hoarder vehicle in another grocery store parking lot.  We only have 2 grocery stores in this town of 20,000 people.

I guess I got a bit sidetracked but these things tend to stay on my mind.  I try to make sense of them and yet I know that minds much greater than mine haven't figured it out much either.  Anyway, I hope somehow this lady gets some help.

In the meantime, I'm going for a run.  It is the first one of the season where it might be too cold for shorts. The leaves are beautiful and I am grateful for a healthy body that allows me to enjoy running.

  5. Mum knows someone here (used to be a friend, but that is a story for another time) whose house is almost as bad as the car. she and her hubby applied for a re-fi a few years ago and so had to clean up the house somewhat. She is a self-proclaimed "coupon queen" and buys multiples of stuff, and then tries to sell it at a much lower price than you can pay at the store. Her car is always so packed with stuff that even the passenger seat and floor on that side is full. One time when mum unexpectedly ended up in the hospital she and Uncle Vic had to come and get Cody (as you can see, before my time), Uncle Vic said that Cody had to sit on a pile of stuff in the back seat!!!
