Continued Persistence

This is going to be a different kind of post because I am in a different kind of mood.  (If you read the post about the sad news on the other blog you will understand.)  Anyway, yesterday we went on a 5 mile walk along the river.  I kept seeing these spots in the asphalt that were lifted.  I knew what was causing it, plant growth underneath.  It amazes me that a tiny plant can send up a fragile shoot and through continued persistence it can break through asphalt!

So of course this led to me thinking about all the things I can do (and have done) through continued persistence.

At the ballgame last night (we went with the kids and grands) our team was behind by 3 runs.  I said to myself (this is silly but I do it all the time), "If God wants me to have some ice cream, our team will get enough hits to pull ahead."  No sooner did I acknowledge that thought and boom . . . we got a home run!  And the hits stacked up quickly and we were ahead!  Dang!  God must really want me to have ice cream!

Then I thought about my own "continued persistence".  Which direction was I going with it?  I passed on the ice cream.

  1. Sometimes knowing we could do or have something makes it easier to pass up.

When we were in Iceland I was amazed at the barren spots things grew. Life finds a way.

Some good thinking going on there. Wonderful analogy. The true freedom of life is choice. The responsibility of life is making choice. The joy of life is contentment in our choices.

  3. BUTTTT the good thing is you made the choice to pass you didn't pass because if might make you feel guilty...you were going to have it ....then you chose not to!!

  5. I missed your earlier post, so sorry to hear your sad news. Sending you lots of luffs and hugs, wish I had some words to help.
Butts, persistence is a great word, if you persist in losing your 10 , so will I and we'll both feel better for it!

  6. God likely knew you needed that ice cream, but you were wise and declined. It's all in the choices.

  7. I just left a comment on 'Murphy and Stanley' but I will leave one here as well: I am so sorry to hear about your friend. Sending lots of love and comfort to both you and her.
On a different note - congratulations to your team on their win, and to YOU on your own persistence! Though, I really think that LBJ put it in the best way. :) - Amanda
