Millie

First there was Lila.  She is a Specialized Sirrus Sport.  From the moment I first rode her I was in love! It was my first time to ever have a really GOOD bike, one with good components and professionally fit for me.  It made all the difference and it wasn't too long before I had 500 miles on her.

I loved her so much that I decided to push it a bit further and upgrade to carbon fiber.  I think it's a healthy decision. But I'll keep Lila too!  She'll be the one who goes with me when we travel in the wheelie house or when I need a tire with more tread this winter.

There is a carbon version of Lila, the Specialized Sirrus Elite Carbon (AKA Millie).  I made the "mistake" of checking her out at the bike store.  The first thing that impressed me was how light she was.  Then I rode her and liked the wide gearing and "Longhorn" handlebar.  She handles nicely and carbon is a better ride overall.

One of the employees at the bike store (who we have spent lots of money time with), told us he liked to take photos of his bike.  I found it rather amusing and chuckled at the time, but now am finding it really is kind of fun!

When we rode into town on Tuesday (it was a huge state holiday here) Millie wanted to pose with a matching horse.

In this next photo you can see Millie's headlight (1200 lumens).  It's VERY bright for nighttime rides and for improved visibility to drivers.  I also got a smartphone holder.  It's kinda cool cuz I can answer my phone, get directions via GPS, play music, and even live stream to Facebook while I'm going down the road.  The bag on the bar is very handy too for when I need to stash a few things.  And speaking of the bar, it is a women's bike but I opted to not get the step-through version.  For one thing, we needed the bar to fit it on the bike carrier (even though we have ordered a new carrier that we will pick up today).

Both Lila and Millie have paint that changes color with exposure to UV light.  Lila brings out more lilac color and Millie goes from a nearly fluorescent melon color to a paler orange in the sunlight.

My goal is 1,000 miles by the end of summer.  I'm at 577 miles right now.  I hope to stack miles a bit more quickly once it isn't so dreadfully hot.  In the meantime, I'm really enjoying my bike.  And for the record, Bob can say the same thing about his bike (Grayson).  His carbon upgrade (AKA El Toro) is on order and should be in any day now!

Keep Moving!
