Week 2

Here it is week 2 and the results are a not so exciting 9 tenths of a pound.  I know that ANYTHING down is a good thing but it sure would have been nice to see something more exciting.  Oh well, it is what it is and eventually it will all add up for something more satisfying.

I think Beth probably nailed it when she talked about just being happy to be feeling better.  I so agree.  It is nice to not be berating myself for overeating,  And even though my 2-week total is barely over 2 pounds I can still feel it.  Maybe it's because as a runner I am very in tune with my body.  I can feel when my weight goes up 2 pounds but it surprises me when I can feel it when it goes down 2 pounds.

Any change in weight is very noticeable when I am running.  If you think about it, our legs, knees, and feet are carrying a heavy load every second we're upright.  But with running there is the impact to consider and it is replicated over and over, step after step, mile after mile.  I don't want to give the impression that this is painful (it could be if I weighed more) but let's just say that less weight feels more gazelle-like. Of course after running a number of miles there isn't a lot of gazelle in my stride lol!

Speaking of running miles, I am 30 miles away from celebrating another benchmark for lifetime miles (14,000 miles).  I typically run 26 miles a week but considering a week from today is a very significant day for me I might just go out for a special run to commemorate two things at once.  I haven't totally decided.

In the meantime, I'll try and make good choices cuz those choices do add up . . . even if it's only 9 tenths.

  2. That's still progress. I got the pounds off I gained over last summer and winter, not skinny by any means, but feel good. I'm working more on WHAT I eat as opposed to how much and I do feel better getting rid of a lot of the junk food in my diet. You're doing great!'
