Tuesday - Weird Numbers

Last night I stepped on the scale before going to bed.  My reason wasn't so much for weight loss purposes as it was to see if I had rehydrated after my long run.  I noticed that my weight was low enough that I was probably still dehydrated.  Then this morning, after getting up and peeing, I stepped on the scale again.  It was higher.  Shouldn't that be impossible?  Numbers are such a mystery.

That's a wrap.

  1. I've had that weird thingy on the scales as well, I guess that's why we're only supposed to weigh ourselves once a week. That never happens for me though, if I want to lose weight it has to be daily, good or bad I have to know!

Yes, that IS one of the reasons that weekly weigh-ins are the suggested choice (even by the big firms in this business); it is perfectly normal for the body to fluctuate as much as five lbs for women on a daily basis and it is all related to water levels. Remember that carbs are used for runners for the precise reason that they assist the body to retain water... you may have been a little under last evening, but as you tend to high-carb intake before bed, and likely added hydration, due to not using that in the night and despite voiding, the body is simply back in its correct water balance.... you also don't say, but if the bowel had not moved at the same time, that could add a pound or two to make that scale shift.

Perhaps for the mental relief in this process, allowing yourself a 5lb 'margin' would be a fairer measure? Frustration carries weight too...
    Eyes-on...YAM xx
