Hobby

I have always struggled with the concept of having a hobby.  It seemed there was nothing I enjoyed enough to "officially qualify" (what is that?) as a hobby.  But now I guess I found one - my garden!

I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE the box garden Bob built for me!  I'm documenting and taking good notes so I'll know what works and what doesn't.  Today I made a few changes.

I harvested all my spinach yesterday.  It is just getting too hot for it and I wanted to enjoy it before the heat made it bitter.  It was delicious!  Next year I will plant it earlier (I may do a fall planting this year).  So that left open a few more spaces.  I planted onions (yes, late too but we'll see what happens) and butternut squash.  I love butternut squash in the fall and winter.

My basil is still alive but I think our soaring temps will put an end to it.

Yellow squash & spaghetti squash are doing well.

I have 4 tomato plants (2 pictured).  They are doing GREAT!
Three beautiful little tomatoes!

Yukon Gold potatoes are growing like crazy.

It won't be long before the center trellis fills up!  It's 6 feet high so that should be sufficient.

The tomatoes are on the right side, 2 on each level.

I have some shorter corn that was planted by seed.  Hoping the seed corn will be "knee high by 4th of July"!
